Gerry was born and raised nearby in Thornhill Ontario. After graduating high school at Thornlea Secondary School, he traveled throughout western Canada. Upon return to Ontario he took courses in computer electronics. Once hired with a company he lived in California for a short time and then was transferred to Calgary. Although doing well in this field at a time when Calgary was booming he still wanted to fulfill a longtime dream and become a veterinarian.
Gerry left his job and went back to school and eventually graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. From there with his wife Beth returned to Ontario and practiced mixed animal medicine in Markdale for 6 years. Wanting to become more specialized, Gerry started with Stouffville Veterinary Clinic in 1991 and has been practicing here since.
Beth and Gerry, with their 3 children, 4 cats and 2 dogs live in nearby Claremont. As a family they enjoy alpine skiing. Gerry also goes canoeing and mountain biking at every opportunity. Being involved as an active member at Claremont United Church, the School Community Council, and a fulltime veterinarian there seems to be little spare time but small animal practice is still a driving force in his life.
